Match report January is the start of a New Year and at the Woodbridge Oval the Club members joined forces and produced a thrilling game. Antonio Brown captaining for the first time at senior level won the toss and choose to bat first. Openers Marriner and Andrews got off to a good start scoring 46 runs for the loss of only 1 wkt, 36 runs on the total. Dawes and Jack Perman amassed 30 for the loss of 3 wkts, 0.
Junior Captain and Vice Captain Roper and Gomes Brown entered the game, 39 runs out 3 times 9 runs to the total, half way score 45. McInstry and Anton Bodnarec did real damage to the score striking 19 but falling 3 times -11 whoops. Pakiem and Fletcher had it all to do Pakiem reaching 25 and returning to the red wine leaving Fletcher(26) who was joined by Robinson(3) to finish the match. 190 runs scored but 12 wkts falling minus 120 total 90. Bowling honours went to the junior players with Leo Laundon taking 4 wkts and Kieron Perman grapping 3. well done boys.
Eldermen Nix and Geddis opened the second innings in what looked an easy target and got off to a good start 31 runs for the loss of 1 wkt. total 21. K Pakiem and Taylor also helped the cause 27 for 1 another 17 to the total. Skipper Evans walked in with Kieron Perman struck 6 an over but unluckely Evans lost his middle peg 3 times, twice by his opposite captain Antonio Brown, only 6 runs added. Mark Perman and Leo Laundon had it all to do, Perman playing in his first game struck 2 fours but cancelled out the runs by being out twice. 20 runs hit 20 runs off. Old and young walked in in the shape of Bellis the Old and Kyle Roper the young. 10 runs hit but out 3 times another minus figure, -20.
total runs scored 123 out 10 times -100 23 runs.
Bowling honours for the team went to Antonio for bowling Evans twice. the other youngsters also chipping in with minus totals of their bowling so well done Anton(-4) and Jack(-4).

Yes! 2011 as started and Cricket is the winner at the Woodbridge Oval Albir. Nets will resume in February. Games in March. Happy New Year to all Readers Members and Friends who enjoy the sunny days at the Club.
