Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas Academy v SACC select X1 on Sun 05 Aug 2012 at 12.00
Match was Drawn SACC Academy hold XL X1 to draw

Match report Sunday 5th August a unusually large crowd gathered at the Woodbridge Oval as the Academy side had again challenged an older team to a game, this time it was the XL club of Spain. Batting first the XL club showed intent with normal opening pair McKinstry and Nix strode out to be met by the ferocious attack of 9 year old Kyle Roper and the 13 year old Kieran Perman, the batsmen were given a serious going over and relied on the generosity of the umpires to last the first few over's, but Nix decided enough was enough and to the delight of the SACC side ran out his opening partner for 1. Then stood in front of middle to give the umpire no choice but give him out LBW for 6. Bowling changes came often as Roper senior kept the pressure on and after 10 over's 4 wickets had fallen and the XL club select X1 looked in all sorts of trouble.
A mature stand was required and Marriner and Byrne obliged both hitting the inexperienced bowlers over the fielders heads in an attempt to score a few.
Byrne(19) walked in front of the stumps and Perman K took his second of the day, although on a different day he would have had an hatful, Metcalf(32) flown over by the XL club to strengthen an overly experienced side stood tall and he helped Marriner(48) get the total up to 140 before taking a quick one and leaving his partner high and dry in the middle off the wicket. As always one brings two and next over he edged a rising ball, off James Smith, to Roper behind the stumps, only the tail to go the experience of Bishton amounted to nothing as he gave a difficult chance to Roper behind who whipped off the bails quickly. Howden and Duggan hen had all on to keep the youngsters from taking the last wicket to seal a serious chance for victory this came in the last when Duggan picked out Perman in the deep, 151 would never be enough to give this youthful SACC academy side a challenge.

After a large tea the Academy side walked out looking tall against the backdrop of McKinstry and Nix. Jack Perman is has always a very serious player,
and when XL opened with overseas player Metcalf stood relatively tall and played the ball with the middle. 5 runs of the first and the SACC team looked on target. Perman the older, better known as tinker bell, gave nothing away as his first was without a wicket but only 2 runs. In the 5 over Leo Laundon spanked one off Metcalf only to see it snapped up by an XL player, 15 for one and on target.2 more quick wkts fell as Torrey was short on his run and sadly run out, then Jamie Roper gave up his wicket a simple chance of Tinker bell, whoops Perman. Jack Perman then gave a chance and was caught for 14 well taken runs. Tyler Brown, showing why he is a regular senior player, wacked 31 runs in double time to take the score up to nearly 100 before getting caught Kieran Perman also gave the ball a spank but again the airways are full of hands as he also was caught. When Little Lewis was needlessly run out the end looked certain but James Smith Kyle Roper and Jack Duggan played out the last few over's and under Laundon Fletcher ruling the game ended as a draw.
Well done lads and remember Cricket is the winner..
