Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Lost Tight game in Final

Match report After an entertaining weekend at Alfas, Cornwall ended up winning the first Annual Celtic Cup. Saturday game´s were played at full throttle as SACC ammassed 251 against a shell shocked Welsh X1 which consisted of several very good drinkers. Chasing a large total is always difficult and the lads gave it a go but the young SACC bowlers did more than enough to claim this match, in the afteernoon match Cornwall played against Levante CC. Cornwall set 148 after a good bowling spell from the Valencia based side. Martin the unlucky batsman falling on 49. Bellis doing most of the damage with figures of 4 for 30 from 3.
Levante batted one paced through out their innings and reached 122 Hunt top scoring with 38.
Sunday set out to be a good day of cricket and the welsh lads sert of batting first against a Levante and SACC accademy mixed X1. The youngster´s struggled on a full size pitch and wides top scored with 60 out of the 105 the Coach Inn reached. Even with the help from Mr Wide 105 was always in reach and he again top scored in the second innings with 57 Jason Noon came second with 27 as Levante won the game with 3 overs to spare.
The Final had a lot to live up to and the Cornish lads set off at a gallop taking a real liking to the well below par SACC bowling, 100 came up in the 12 over and a real high score looked on but SACC managed to keep things in hand for the last 8 overs and only another 61 runs were added. 151 for 5 from 20,
Roper, Taylor and Crompton the wicket takers Cornish Skipper Jenkins top scored with 56. With the depth in batting Alfas have Cornwall had to bowl exceptionally well to keep the score below the total and did so, Shafique the first to fall for a below par 12 then Nadeem got a LBW decission against him and Muñoz lost his cool and was caught. 44 for 3 after 7 overs again SACC batsmen fail to live up to the high expectations of the home team fans. Crompton then set about the middle order bowlers and nearly won the match single handed reaching 74 with 5 sixes and 8 fours but Jenkins removed his stumps with only 10 runs needed to steal the win and ensure the Celtic Cup was received by a Celtic side much to the delight of the organiser. Thanks and gifts followed, the teams invited to an after tournament dinner,
