Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won SACC CRUISE TO VICTORY

Match report ALFAS CONTINUE UNBEATEN RUN IN PREMIER LEAGUE
25th May 2013
Sporting Alfas continued their domination of the ECCL Premier league by seeing off Alcorcon in the top of the table challenge against Alcorcon last weekend.
With regular skipper Kevin Laundon unavailable it was left to former Spanish international Ben Fletcher to marshal the side. Fletcher won the toss, invited the visitors to bat, and then immediately sprung a suprise by giving the new ball to the leg spinner Gary Crompton. This proved a successful ploy as he had Alcorcon opener Safdar caught off the fourth ball of the day.
This early success for Alfas set the tone for the game and the home side continued to take wickets at regular intervals. However, dangerman Tariq Ali once again proved a thorn in the Alfas side, smashing a half century off just 22 balls, but once he fell with the score on 81 the brittleness of the Alcorcon batting was exposed.
A quick fire 45 by Kaser aided the Alcorcon cause but a final total of 241 all out looked reachable on the fast outfield.
Openers Spencer and Pennick continued to show the excellent form that as put Alfas on top of the table and took the score to 85 quickly before Pennick was caught off the bowling of Salman off a smart catch by Malik. Munoz continued were Pennick had left off and along with Spencer put on 124 before Spencer was caught for 88. Munoz soon followed for a fine 60 but by then the game was won. Alcorcon managed to pick up another wicket but the home side tasted victory with a glorious four from Gary Crompton with 6 wickets and 8 overs to spare.

Maximum points for Alfas, whilst Alcorcon got 6 points from the game.
