Match report On a blistering hot sunny day SACC had their 2nd league match on the trot and with a few players staying up for the night there was a few tired faces and bodies on the ground, maybe for the best we lost the toss and batted first. Going along nicely at between 5 and6 an over with less swing then the previous day a good total looked on the cards, but Barber produced 3 excellent catches and a near run out which changed the flow of the game. With the Alfas batsman getting starts none went on to get the big score required with only Roper carrying on his form and reaching 53 before being caught and bowled. SACC limped to 207 all out in 44.5 overs, taking only 3 batting points. For Madrid United Ashraf bowled tidily with figures of 4/37 and Madrid United looking confident in their game plan.
In chasing Madrid changed their order and uncharacteristically blocked out as much as possible. With no big shots maidens were plentiful, Roper bowling a fine opening spell with Fletcher and Pennick bowling well to keep the runs down against their two main batsmen, before the spin twins Crompton and Shahzad shared 7 quick wickets and Madrid United collapsed from 60/1 to 129 all out; Aktar and Shaz both scoring runs as they had done yesterday. SACC ground fielding and catching was of the level that should be expected, with the exception of Brook, who was now clearly struggling with the Benidorm effect.
Two great games and 38 points out of a possible 40 propels SACC to 2nd place with a game in hand.
