Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won Solid total defended with economic bowling

Match report Under the steady gaze of Pennick for the day, Alfas 1sts opened their season with a comfortable win while blowing away some of the cobwebs of the close season.

Crompton and Alger hit the ground running with the bat, both scoring 50's and a few other double figure batsmen helped the total to 231 all out, something not seen very often here on a Saturday!

In reply, Theale managed to bat out their overs but apart from a heavy hitting display from R. Why and early runs from 'keeper Choules, they fell short of the target, even with nearly 20 wides being added to the score.

Alfas will continue their league preperations in the coming months with many touring teams coming over to enjoy the picturesque setting of the Woodbridge Oval, Saturdays, Sundays and weekdays, games can be found in March with great regularity and with a bar on hand to beat the heat, a great afternoon's relaxation to be had, all welcome
