Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas Saturday v Harpenden C.C on Sat 16 Mar 2019 at 1.00
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Lost SACC 194 not quite enough to overturn 206.

Match report Asked to bat first Harpenden CC got of to a flyer with runs coming fast to the opening pair of Pankhurst and Beazley. 56 from 10, 101 from 15, what sort of total would SACC be chasing ?. Harpenden reaching 117 before 4th change, Mohib returning after a season away from Albir, enticed Beazley (58) to chase a wider ball with Laundon taking it one handed far to his right. Wickets started to tumble steadily, Lamb playing across his first delivery was adjudged LBW for 0, Reeves falling to a sharpe catch by Afsal off Waqar. Mohib got his second bowling Frazer (1) . Luffman (2) held by Kyle Roper off the impressive Waqar. Killen and Bradley stopped the fall and a bit of normality returned with the pair taking the score past 200 when Bradley on 26 walked by one and was stumped by Alger off C Wood. A silly run out followed as Downes decided to join his team mate at the wrong end, Kyle Roper calmly passing the ball to Alger for a comical run out. Smith entered the arena with the last ball available and kindly steered it balloon fashion to the still at first slip Laundon. 206 for 9 from the 35 over stint, SACC pleased that the opposition had not reached the 300 mark.
Tea and cake time and again the spread produced was exceptional and both teams chatted through the short break. Laundon and Afsal walked out to what was expected to be an hostile environment, but between Benidorm and large portions at tea time things started off very steadily and runs came along at a steady 5 an over. Harpenden changing the bowling attack regularly to ensure sun stroke and exhaustion did not stop their teammates from enjoying the evening. On 65 runs Laundon (19) was bemused by a extremely slow Lamb delivery which he calmly chipped back to Lamb.
Alger joined Afsal in what had to be a match winning partnership, but after nearly doubling the score Alger (23) hit one high that Smith calmly caught. F; Afsal at this stage on 72 in yet another class batting display, As in the first half wickets started to tumble although not quite as dramatically, K Wood (7) was bowled by a refreshed Beazley, Beazley then got the star prize wicket of Faran Afsal who had just reached his 100, caught behind by Killen. Waqar(11) in the same fashion as Wood as Beazley got his 3rd wicket. Smith´s last 5 balls claimed 3 wickets. SACC 194 all out although only 8 wickets had fell.
