Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won Comfortable chase for SACC

Match report Gloustershire OB´s won the toss and decided to have a bat on the evergreen Woodbridge Oval wicket. Collinson the first to fall when Bobby Nix calmly passed the ball to Geoff Evans who juggled it until it finally nestled safely in his hands. Thomas came and went rather quickly when the pace of Ahmad troubled him and a leading edge popped up to Amjad at cover point. Ahmad´s second on the day. Meanwhile Kyle Roper did Bobby Nix for pace and the wicket keeper who was returning after a few weeks absence from Albir had to sadly sit out the rest of the days play. Baker became Ahmad´s third
victim clean bowled. Lawson(19) fell to a blinding J Perman catch reaching high and backwards to secure Shenkman a wicket. Feebery(32) became Shenkman´s second when playing around a full straight one. Edge lived up to his name and edged one off the inside of his bat giving Waseem a wicket.
Jack Harod was giving out a bit of stick to the new look SACC bowling attack, so Skipper Laundon asked Jack Perman to have a go, Jack calmly watched the ball sail away a couple of times but stuck to his line and inevitably Harod on a very rapid and hard hit 47 missed one and JP got the satisfaction of his wicket. Clarke reached 20 when he edged one to Laundon behind the stumps. Earl was caught by Amjad giving Jack Perman his second wicket and the return of Roper gave Amjad his 3rd catch on his debutant day. Smith stuck at the wrong end with out facing a ball much to the amusement of his team mates, who had already set about the extremely well laid out ¨teas under the trees¨.
SACC opened with one of the new boy´s Zulfaur and Laundon, Gloustershire OB players wondering what was happening as Zulfaur wafted through 5 balls before Edge finally ended the folly by hitting middle stump. Jack Perman joined Laundon and normal service resumed with Jack Perman hitting the fence with ease 4 x 4´s and 4 x 6´s in a quick fire 45. Jimmy on his return to the middle at the Woodbridge Oval kept very calm and watched the ball closely, striking 1 x 4 run of the last ball of each of the 3 overs he faced before missing the last ball of the 4th over, bowled ! . Laundon reached his 53 run total and thankfully went back to the cabin, retired. Shenkman, again showing a bit of quality, and Amjad, another new player on the day, took the score to175 when the new man gave the aerial route one shot to many and was superbly caught by Jack Harod on the midwicket boundary holding on one handed after running under the ball and diving backwards to take the catch. Jamshaid Ahmad finished of his day with a smile as he and Shenkman finished the innings not out. 195 for 4 from 33.3 overs a good win in an excellent and enjoyable day with our regular visitors.
