Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won Great Day with a great finish.

Match report Hi readers. SACC entertained a great set of blokes from West Hallam this week, so on yet another glorious saturday afternoon the Captains decided SACC should swing the willow first. Spencer and Pennick were met with some hostile bowling from the Notts lads but both stood tall and took the game away from West Hallam by not losing a wicket until Pennick(17) chased a wide one from Lockheart Jnr, who ended up with 2 for 27 from 7 a good days work. Crompton stode out and looked in fine form and along with Spencer took the score to 134, and following fellow opener Pennick, Spencer(72) edged a wide delivery to the waiting hands of Elder the wicket keeper. With only 10 overs left it looked like SACC might not post a over par score but some mighty shots from Crompton(65) took SACC to 235 from 35 overs.
SACC´s bowling got off to a awful start with 50 coming up in just 5 overs but the gile of Taylor and the pace of Muñoz slowed the run rate down and SACC looked in control. Although Jepson(71) who played with much control never appeared fazed by the control shown by the pair. Tigle was the first WHCC batsman to fall tempted by Taylor but only reaching short midwicket where Wasim clutched the ball thankfully. Muñoz with a super spell removed West Hallam number 3, Law, with a ball which would of taken anyones wicket. Taylor then struck again getting No.4 Lockheart, Pennick taking this catch. Taylors figures, yet again terrific, 7 overs 2 wickets and only 4 runs, it is uncanny how he keeps doing it week after week. Muñoz 7 overs 1 wicket for 34 really did not do himself justice his spell was super. SACC spin attack followed and remained in control allowing West Hallam to have a go at a closing total but always being behind the run rate. Although Spencer took 3 for 45 from 6 overs the West Hallam crew carried on chasing the 236 required and reached 217, a fantastic result followed by a spread on the BBQ fit for a king, washed down, as alway´s, with a few golden ones.
