Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won SACC continue winning

Match report On a rare rainy day at the Woodbridge Oval SACC and Cannock and Rugeley worked hard together to remove water from a ground that looked more like a swamp than a cricket pitch but it was worth while has the game got underway only a little later than normal. After winning the toss C&R.C.C invited SACC to bat. It looked a great decission as Spencer went for a duck playing around a good one from young quickie Aston, Spanish junior Captain Muñoz joined Ali in the middle and normal service was resumed as the pair went quickly to 68 when Ali(37) attempted to hit another one out the ground and was caught in the long by Aston. Muñoz and Crompton continued until at 159, then Muñoz(42) fell LBW to Farley whome then had Hersh caught and Morgan LBW for a very good hat trick, well done, this gave the scoreboard a more creditable look, 159 for 5, with a long way to go. Crompton continued his personal attack until at 83 one popped a litle and he was caught by Aston off the bowling of Lloyd. The SACC tail failed to wag and a under par score of 207 was set.
SACC´s opening attack of Lupson and Muñoz set about the Cannock lads and Muñoz bowled Saunders in his first over. after 9 overs Spencer took the ball, bowling well, taking 2 for 5 off 5 overs, Paul Taylor did a great job at the other end finishing with 2 for 3 off 5 overs, Skipper Laundon gave the ball to Marriner for the last over before drinks hoping a wkt would fall to the bowler, Whoops, the ball ended up in the pond and 23 runs on the board as opposition Skipper John Lloyd took full advantage of Marriners bowling. He fancied doing the same to Taylor but the bowler used his immence knowledge and Muñoz took a easy catch at mid-wicket. thinking the job was done SACC skipper chucked the ball around and used 9 bowlers in total, but with Irish international R Byrnne(67) spanking the second string bowlers all around the ground the game got mightely close until young Jack Hersh held his nerve and had the batsman stumped, the innings closed on 179. Another great day at the Woodbridge Oval.
