Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas Saturday v Marylebone C.C. on Sat 18 Apr 2009 at 11.30
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Lost MCC win with style.

Match report The MCC visited the Woodbridge Oval and invited SACC to bat first in a time game which is a first for the 1st eleven, Spencer and Ali opened and with the very accurate MCC bowlers causing problems from the start a large total always looked a difficult task, Ali(13) was the first to go, playing in his normal extravagant style he tried to smash Bolstridge into the pond and was caught in the slips. Crompton(5) strode out to the centre and looked in good shape until he shouldered arms to a lifter from Bolstridge and played on, this allowed Howe to get back into the middle after a great century on friday, he carried on, missing a few but also stroking a few to all parts of the ground. Spencer in the mean time looked as though he would reward the crowd with a high score but after reaching 55 played around a good one from Gerrard, this allowed Ur Rehman to bat for the first time this season with the 1st´s, he played some cracking shots and along with Howe looked as though SACC might reach a reasonable score, but with a declaration looming the pair fell whilst trying to push the total on, Howe (44) first to fall caught behind off the very good Bolstridge who´s figure of 3-41 did not do justice, Pennick hit a steady 13 before being caught by Patel off Wileman then Ur Rehman (57) was caught by Ratcliffe off Dennington. Lupson cauld not repeat his heroics and fell for 1. Fletcher hit a quick fire 22 and the innings was called to a end with only 227 on the board and enough time left to give the MCC a fighting chance.
SACC Bowlers Lupson and Taylor opened and when Lupson had S Patel(1) caught by Taylor in the 3rd over it looked like a good game was on, Carter(25) played some great shots before playing across a full ball from Ur Rehman, Wileman was in great form knocking the ball around with good timing and along with Stewart put on a 100 run partnership before Stewart(75) left one from Laundon which removed his middle stump, Dennington smashed 40 before Lupson had him caught in the deep by his own captain S Patel who was subbing. Sethi very sportingly allowed Wileman(78) to hit the winning run with only 2 overs of the days play remaining,
MCC deserved the win and presented SACC captain Laundon with a Shield to commemerate a good days play and hopefully an annual event.
