Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas Sunday v Philistines C.C. on Sun 25 Oct 2009 at 12.00
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won

Match report On avery hot sunny day in october and having to wait ages for a golf tournament as the last pair were so poor , one of the ladies teed off hit a tree and the ball went passed her much to the delight of the cricketers , obviously a moment where you had to be there, anyway eventually starting at 1.30 , so game was reduced to 32overs , and Alfas skipper lost the toss again , in the field we go, Skipper is not a liked man at this stage. The Philistines started quietly ,loosinga wicket in the first over , and at 35 for 2 off 9overs in a shortened game thouht we was doing very well , then Tipping and Turcan started to take the atack with some improvised shots from tipping reaching a very quick fifty with the score on only 68, Turcan batted around him and punished the bad ball to good effect , with the Philistine pair putting on a 150 run partnership in 18overs before Tipping came off after scoring a productive hundred, Turcan soon followed after hitting 61 and being bowled by Catala. Philistines reached a massive 215 for 3 off 32overs Peter Packiam the pick of the bowlers .Some better positive fielding and bowling may have helped the alfas course a bit more with 26extras.
Needing 6.896 an over from the start things were going to be tough for the local boys , even more so once the first 2 overs were knocked back for for 1run which was a wide.4th over MArriner closed his eyes and charged guest player Bainbridge only to knock it straight to point, in came Pennick with only 8 on the board and 28overs to go , who tried to know the ball around more and rotate the strike along with Robinson , before a m,atch winning runout , what sore the Philistines runout Robinson in a tight cool , before the celebrations were short lived when they realised Afzal was walking in , and proceed to loose ball after ball with some huge hits off some very short bowling and good counting to keep Pennick off strike.. reachinga very impressive 105 off 16overs with 160 partnership with Pennick who was Lbw for 49 much to the shock of the bowler , batsman, fielders crowd the list goes on.... 30 needed off 10over left the young lads hitting a few runs and a few more wickets lost before the ever improving Tim Marshall scoring the winning runs with 40vers to go , a great all round performance from a weakend Sunday side with all the players batting or bowling .
