Match report Th Nomads returned to The Woodbridge Oval, batting first expecting to set a large total, the Alfas bowlers determined to stop this happening. Pennick starting from the top end got his man second ball, Hussey falling to a good slip catch by Spencer. Brown at the far end bowled a maiden. Pennick continued to trouble the Nomad batsmen, unlucky not to take more wickets as the ball flew through the slips regulary, his figures of 1 for 47 not showing his quality today. Brown ended with 1 for 17 off his 6 overs a great spell from the youngster. Ashraf replaced Brown and again bowled well in his first season at this level, Fletcher came on and got 2 wickets in his first over, Latchman caught behind by Morgan and next ball a simple LBW against Patel, filling him with confidence which helped him get through a great spell, 2 for 40 from 8.
Howden also got in with a good spell, removing Shawl with a yorker, 1 for 51 from 6. Spencer and Laundon ended the SACC bowling season with 1 wicket each Spencer sending Brockton back stuimpes after a very well played 65, Laundon bowling Blumberg with the last ball, Reeve ending on 73 unbeaten by the SACC team. 254 for 8 from 40.
Pennick and Spencer opened for Alfas and both walked back in after hitting excellent hundreds as SACC reached the total in the 27 over, Shawl not finding his day an happy one his spell finished with 0 wickets and 76 well taken runs from the Nomad quicky. Reeve, maybe feeling the effect of his long batting innings, also felt the wrath of the Alfas pair his 4 over spell going for 29.
Spinner Weyman not getting it right today and also going at 10 an over, his 6 ending 0 for 59. Skipper Brockton finding the Alfas pair to good, also going at 9 per over. Hussey removed the pads and gloves to give his slow spin a go but found the SACC openers to well set to be fooled into spomething daft and also went at 9 per over. 255 for 0 wickets in 27 overs must be a club record well done to the two centurians.
