Sporting Alfas Cricket Club 1st X1 T20 v New Bradwell CC on Sun 07 Apr 2024 at 14:30
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won
Match report
New Bradwell made it through Sundays matches and were ready to go head-to-head with the home team. A good crowd had gathered to watch the final and SACC managed to win the toss and elected to bat first.
As was now the norm on this weekend, Crompton and Muñoz Mills strode out to the middle and took the task to the NBCC bowlers going along at an equally high run rate and both looking like reaching the 100 mark again, sadly for Crompton he fell on 57 caught by Rizwan off Hitches in the 15th over with the score well set at 125, replaced by Maylon who cleverly kept Muñoz Mills on strike for the last few overs, giving his skipper on the day the opportunity to reach his second 100 of this tournament. SACC 204 for 1 from 20 overs.
NBCC never really got in front in the final and although it looked at one point that the total was in reach when Waqar removed the hard hitting Azam out for 45 the game settled and the inevitable result became easier to predict, Anderson reached 35 not out, Hashmi 21. SACC clear winners by 58 runs in a very well contested tournament final.
The tournament organiser John Woodward from MCC gave his thanks to all for supporting this money for charity event asked the tournament referee Mr Gordon Ashford to pass out the trophies to the 3rd 2nd and 1st placed captains. It was great to see the players get called up for individual awards for best Bowler - C Martiz with 11 wickets and C Muñoz Mills for the highest run total of 330.
