Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Midweek v GSCC on Thu 25 Apr 2024 at 13:00
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Lost This week GSCC help out the 9 man squad.
Match report
Gloucester Seniors turned up with their largest touring party to the sunny ground that SACC call home. Invited to bat first the visitors struggled to get the speedy bowling of Braithewaite and Andrews to the boundary, and both bowlers struggled to hit the stumps, 62 for 0 at the 13th over point. The change in the bowling attack brought about little change and the score ticked along at a rate of 5 runs per over. Powl getting the wicket of Collinson (42) well caught by the SACC captain Laundon in an unusual for him cover placement. GSCC skipper Edge retired after making a 60 ball 50, setting the hallmark for the other batters. Feebs was bowled by Parker, out for 29, Adams and Daniels finishing of the innings with 35 and 37 a lowly 205 for SACC to chase.
Pennick and Andrews started the chase for the home team, Andrews not bothering the scorers and was caught for 0. Robson joined Pennick and scored a 39 ball 52 and following his skipper from his own team retired gracefully, Parker After travelling from the UK just for the match today went 3rd ball for the second SACC duck. Millard, the second GSCC man helping out the home club, was brilliantly caught by his team mate Smith, taking the catch one handed over his head. Waters who had also travelled over to play in the afternoon match steadied the ship but sadly it was time for Pennick to depart, retiring on his 50. Not a good move for the home side with Powl, McGrail, Attay and Braithwaite only scored 4 runs between them in the combined 7 overs faced. The game fizzled out to a 60 run win for GSCC, with both teams promising to enjoy the post match refreshments and chat.
