Sporting Alfas Cricket Club News story

Ground usage and membership fees 26/03/2021

26 Mar 2021

Dear all,

Following on from a change in Insurance coverage and increased monitoring of the ground due to

COVID limitations and practises, the committee of Sporting Alfas Cricket Club need to bring the

following to your attention –

Players are ONLY allowed use the ground, facilities and training areas when they are paid members of

this club. This means, that no non-member is allowed use the nets or enter the changing rooms of the

club. Due to the insurance restrictions placed on the club by the new insurance coverage, only players

or opposition teams, when playing, can use the club’s facilities. Opposition teams cannot come to use

the nets for a day out, non-club members cannot join in with players practising in the nets.

Members must pay their subs before using the nets based on these new demands by the Town Hall and

the Insurance providers. It is not a case of I will pay next week or I’ve always been a member, you have

to pay now before you can use the club, as of the date of this letter.

Nets, under the current COVID restrictions are limited to 4 at a time. Only paid members can be in this

foursome and needs to be authorised by the committee. There is to be no jumping of fences or entering

the ground other than by the gate, when open. We have been advised that the police will be called if

people are seen jumping in or unauthorised practising taking place.

In light of the above, the year that we will face, the reduced number of games and the increase to the

insurance per player, we have decided that the subs for the year 2021 will be set as follows –

€ 25 for playing members, regardless of XL, midweek, 2nds or 1st team members. This is due to the fact

that any person wishing to play, must be insured and registered specifically.

€ 30 for Family members, which includes players and non-players as always.

€ 10 for Social Membership.

Cricket Spain are looking in to the possibility of reintroducing club id membership cards again due to

these new insurance issues. Members will get a card to confirm their membership and insurance to use

the club, should the scheme go through to ensure only club members use the facilities.
