Presentation Meal There was a successful and enjoyable meal and Award Presentation evening on Saturday 1st February 2025 held at La Rive, opposite the cricket club. The Club covered the whole cost of the meal and drinks totalling approximately €890. Many thanks to the Club for this. 3. Bank Letter A letter is required to present to the bank to clarify that only 2 signatures are required rather than 3. There are currently 3 signatories on the bank contract and for some reason, the bank has changed the system so that all 3 signatories need to sign in order to make transfers. Ginny to produce a letter in Spanish to present to the bank to allow only 2 signatures required. 4. New Kit & Sponsor We have a new main sponsor for the cricket club. This is Victoria Malaga Brewery. Many thanks to Cate for organising this. They currently provide the draught beer and have provided new tables and chairs for the club. Their logo will be shown on the front of the new shirts, both white and blue (T20) shirts. Still looking at other sponsorship deals. We are ordering new playing kit. 50 sets of white shirts with the Victoria logo, 50 sets of whites (no logo), 60 blue caps and 20 blue (T20) shirts with the Victoria logo. We are also looking at the possibility of a Web shop where members will be able to order extras, e.g. hoodies, tracksuits, etc. The new kit will be offered to new members at a discounted price, it will not be completely subsidised by the club. Many thanks to Jake Sunderland for helping to arrange the new kit 5. New balls New balls have been ordered in white, pink and red. They have Sporting Alfas Cricket Club displayed on them. e.g. 6. Gifts for opposing teams The gifts for opposing teams have arrived. They are a glass trophy with the years that SACC have been running displayed, i.e. our 30th Anniversary. 7. Protective netting & ECN We have had approval to put more high netting around the ground, specifically on the west side of the ground (the opposite side to the clubhouse where the big car park is) and the south side (the top road area) e.g. rough locations of new netting marked in red. This is primarily for safety reasons to prevent the ball from being hit into areas where pedestrians may be walking, thus reducing the possibility of people being injured or even worse, killed. This will help us to host ECN tournaments in the future as we cannot host these without the netting. The netting will be a considerable cost to the club but this can be recouped if we host ECN tournaments. The ECN would like us to host the Women’s tournament in November (17th – 30th) This will be very prestigious for the club and for Albir. Please note that the netting will not be required to host this tournament. 8. School visits Neil Brook has asked if we can host 3 schools (2 from Madrid and 1 from Murcia) for training sessions on the ground on Monday 31st March from 10:30 to 14:30. Anyone available to assist would be much appreciated. Neil also wants a tournament for the same schools on Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th May. We will offer Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th as 5th will be unavailable due to returning from Ibiza. Ginny to speak to council to check for permission for the ground to be available. The British College La Cañada in Valencia want to bring about 45 children to SACC on Tuesday 17th June, similar to previous years. Ginny to speak to council for permission to use the ground. SACC will need volunteers for that day to help out. 9. Garry Park (Suggestion from Jake Sunderland for T20’s) Jake would like Garry Park to play for us in some T20 matches to help improve our chances of reaching the T20’s finals in Cartama next year. He has played for us before 2 years ago and is an ex professional cricketer. The Committee have agreed that we will cover the cost of his flights but he will need to perform and be fit for purpose for matches. If we reach the finals in Cartama next year, these costs will be more than covered by the money received from ECN. 10. Ibiza Several questions were raised regarding the Ibiza tour in May, mainly regarding the hotel. But it was unanimously agreed that it is a cricket tour and not a drinking tour. Players are representing the club and are therefore primarily there to play cricket. When the club is funding part of it, players must behave accordingly and be fit for purpose to play cricket. It was agreed that a certain amount of cost for the hotel(s) would be covered by the club for 3 nights based on the cost of a hotel in Santa Eulària des Riu. This is closer to the cricket ground and is likely to be cheaper than hotels in San Antonio. However, if players wish to stay in another hotel, they can do so but if it is more expensive or players wish to stay extra nights, then the player must pay for this themselves. For example, if the nightly cost of a hotel in Santa Eulària des Riu is €100, but the nightly cost of a hotel in San Antonio is €120, the player will have to pay the €20 extra per night themselves. Alternatively, if a hotel can be found at a reasonable price in San Antonio, then everyone would be able to stay there so it would be easier to go out for team meals, etc. Also, this subsidy will only be for players. Any plus one’s (wives, girlfriends, boyfriends) must be paid for separately. Meeting Closed: 12:00noon
