New Umpiring system

11 Mar 2013

NEWSFLASH

Following recent developments in Spain, Skysports have decided to ditch their  ball tracking system, HAWKEYE. They are disappointed that their 500000 pound system, with multiple cameras, hi tech software and powerful computers, is unable to accurately track a ball if impact is more than 3 metres from the stumps. Their new system, called DONDEYE, is able to track the ball if impact is 4 or 5 metres from the stumps ! A small modification to the lbw laws will be required by the MCC. This is thought not to be a problem. All reference to ‘hitting in line’ and ‘pitching on leg side’ will be deleted. The new all encompassing law will be ‘THE BATSMAN WILL BE OUT LBW IF THE BALL HITS THE PADS AND IS JUDGED TO BE GOING ON TO HIT, OR NEARLY HIT, THE STUMPS’.

India have now agreed to use the new DRS (DONDEYE REVIEW SYSTEM)
