Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Lost Ned Flanders X1 enjoy their tour opener

Match report Ned Flanders X1 enjoyed the first game of the cross continent tour, 2010. Choicing to play SACC in the opener was perhaps a good move as they enjoyed a comfortable win against a depleted first team, although anyone watching would have thought the second X1 players did more than some 1st X1 players and certainly showed the depth the club as.
Batting first the Neddies faced some very indifferent bowling from Fletcher whose 2 overs cost 23 runs with no pressure, Cowley bowled well, his first 4 costing 14 before getting a bit of tap his 5th going for 10 5 overs for 24. Ur Rehman started very tidy only 11 from 5 then 2 overs of madness 7 overs 33 runs. Crompton bowled some remarkable stuff and really deserved a couple of wickets but again returned 8 overs for 40 runs. Pennick after a disaster start found his length and after his first cost 10 the next 5 only went for a further 16 then yet again the bowler lost his way 8 overs 2 wkts 54 runs. Evergreen Taylor seemed to have steadied the ship again 4 overs for 19 claiming 2 wkts, unbelievably even PT found his last 2 hammered around and ended 3 for 47 from 7.
Marriner bowled his dippers but found the Aussie lads enjoyed them 2 overs for 27 - 1.
Neddies boys deserve a mention as Simmons got 47 Frankel 51 and Lo Yin 65. The rest capitulated going for quick runs in what appeared a low score. 250 from 40.

SACC got on with it in normal fashion as Spencer this week joined by Ali went along at 6 an over helped by some rapid but wayward Aussie bowling. Ali(31) typically hit a 6 a 4 and a catch all in 1 over 64-1, When Crompton(1) fell 10 runs later and Pennick joined Spencer alarm bells should have been rung as Spencer (35) Pennick(1) Ur Rehman(4) and Fletcher for a golden duck, 250 suddenly looked a long way away. Laundon joined Evans in the Middle and the pair decided that batting through was now more important than going for gold and set about a very stubborn 20 overs knowing that the score was now beyond what was left in the tail. Adding a further 80 runs for no further wickets SACC finished on 156-6. 94 behind the Neddies but with some credit left in the bank.
