Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won Great day at the Woodbridge Oval. Albir.

Match report Sporting Alfas Cricket Club was at its best. On sunday 2-5-10 the club members and good friends from the Intellectuals CC held a fund raising day for one member, who plays for both the clubs, unfortunatley he suffered a serious injury to his back early this season.
The day consisted of 3 x 15 over games all were played in true fund raising manner with plenty of gentle sledging and a few good performances. The games provided the excellent crowd with plenty of laughs and thankfully no tears.
The junior members spent the day selling raffle tickets with too many donated prizes to list.
The Chairmans wife Karen and her good friend Lynne spent the late afternoon over the BBQ and fed the crowd. Dennis, as ever, was behind the bar serving refreshments to the ever thirsty players, crowd and a few passers by, who wondered in to see what the excitement was all about.
This day impressed all who attended because of the enthusiasm shown by so many to help a fellow Cricketer who in times of hardship never asked for anything but still came to the ground to watch the rest of the lads playing, if you have ever been in this unfortunate position you will understand just how very difficult this is to do.
Next weekend the league campaign begins with the 1stX1 playing at the Woodbridge Oval in Albir on Sunday, also on Sunday the 2nd X1 play at La Manga. The Intellectuals are playing at the Woodbridge on Saturday.
A massive thank you to all who attended this enjoyable day and if you are in the area next weekend follow the teams in the quest to keep the league titles.
