Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won Sporting Alfas set to high a target for Madrid
Match report
Sporting Alfas bounced back from last weeks bitter defeat with a strong display against Madrid, Batting first SACC lost opener Howe(4) to a good catch by Khan off Reid, then havoc began Ali, bouncing back from 2 ducks, hitting the ball huge distances but also using restraint when a straight ball came along reached 127 before becoming the games second wicket well caught in the deep as tiredness set in, Crompton at the other end had reached 67 at this point, a 220 partnership, extras making up the total. Crompton and Munoz carried on and the total reached 300 when Crompton(112) mistimed one. Pennick(11) and Morgan(2*) played out the innings whilst Munoz(46*) enjoyed his last league game this year for SACC, 344-4.
Madrid were facing a mammoth task and with the bowling of Laundon as accurate as ever and Pennick mixing the pace up nicely the score hardly moved and the first 10 overs left the home side on 26 runs for 2 wickets, Lupson replaced Pennick and clean bowled Shamma with his first legal ball. The return of Fletcher as been long awaited and today was his day with the ball Claiming 5 wickets, Khan batting at 7 caused a little concern smashing 43 from 10 before the introduction of Crompton brought him back to earth stumped by Ali 2nd ball. Crompton struck again in his only over removing Hirttwstria the same way. Reid was left high and dry on 19 as the last 2 wkts fell to Fletcher, all out for 173 in 31 overs ending the day with 20 points for SACC.
