Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas Saturday v Tottenhoe on Sat 05 Mar 2011 at 12-30
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won New season at Albir.

Match report Cricket returned to the Woodbridge Oval with Tottenhoe returning for their annual Spanish pre-season tour. As always a excellent turnout from the Tottenhoe team gave the Oval a warm friendly feel to start the year. Alfas invited to bat got off to a solid start with Howe(51) and Spencer(54) reaching half centuries with both unluckilly pulling a muscle allowing Crompton and Morgan the chance to visit the wicket, Crompton carried on where he left off last year striking the ball to all corners. Morgan(1) looking a little rusty left quickly playing around one from Woof.112 for 1, Climent(14) strode to the middle and along with Crompton looked in good nick before trying to put one in the pond missing it and losing his middle peg. Andrews(0) a last minute replacement walked out and back nicking his first ball to the gleeful Stainsby of Wood. Suddenly things looked a little glum around the home side as Tottenhoe took control of the middle order. Veteran Taylor joined Crompton with the score on less than 150 a disaster loomed as Crompton(35) hit one straight at cover, 160-5. Laundon walked out and along with Taylor set about repairing the damage, recovering to 209 before Laundon(45) in the last over danced down and missed the shot. Alfas ending with Taylor unbeaten on 9 and Roper 2 not out.
The Tottenhoe batsmens innings began disastrously with Roper bowling Dawson(4) and Fell removing Archamdad(1). Thomas looked in great nick as he watched his team mates crumble Lawarnce(0) unluckily run-out, W Goerge(0) giving Taylor his first wicket this season Crompton chipped in with Blow(4) and Wood (9) before the classy Thomas on 49 missed a clever quicker one from Taylor the inning looked to be all but over. S George left quickly for (4) so the beer was put in the cooler ready for a early finish. No one told the Tottenhoe tale and number 9 A Woof and Keeper Stainsby ran amok for 12 overs amassing 89 runs and keeping the Sporting Alfas lads in the field a lot longer than seemed reasonable. Then Crompton turned things around after a clever bit of bowling from Spencer allowed the batsman to spank the ball to Crompton at deep mid wicket his throw giving Climent the easiest of run-outs, much to the home teams delight and the dismay of a unlucky Woof(45) who deserved to reach his 50. Stainsby(28) then set about the bowling of Crompton(4-37) who enjoys this sort of challenge and was clean bowled. Both teams met in the bar and reminisced about a day that had turned into a very entertaining afternoon of Cricket. Yet again thanks to the home supporters who week after week back the Alfas teams.
