Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas Saturday v Cannock & Rugely on Sat 26 Mar 2011 at 1-00
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Lost Cannock and Rugely to strong for Alfas.

Match report Cannock and Rugely were this weeks tourists and what a great bunch they turned out to be, 41 in the party.
After saying a fond farewell to George Chatfield, an original member and great club man, who this week returns to the UK to be closer to his family.
Cannock won the toss and decided to bat first.
Sporting Alfas opener Fletcher pulled a muscle in his second over and took no further part in this game, Skipper Laundon bowled his first spell very tight 4 overs for 5 runs claiming Fawcett(11) caught by Morgan, wicket keeper for the first time this season. Lupson replacing Fletcher bowling well, only 21 from his 5 over spell. After 10 overs SACC looked comfortable with the score on 34. Jamie Roper gave the batsmen a troublesome time. at drinks the score was 90 for 2, first quarter to SACC. Taylor and Fell continued after drinks both taking 2 wickets. 30 overs 160-5, SACC still in control. The last 10 overs provided some batting thrills as the away side, although losing 3 more wickets gave the scorers something to do, taking the score up to a respectable 227 - 8.
Openers Howe and Laundon faced the initial hostilities from the away team. Aston bowling at a fair pace loved the unusual movement the wet wicket provided. his first 5 overs costing a miserly 11 runs. Skipper John Lloyd from the top end also had the ball dancing, with a movement off the wicket far in excess of the norm. Then after 6 overs he got a full pitched ball past Howe's bat hitting him on the foot, adjudged LBW for 17. Morgan joined Laundon and the pair took the score to 47 before Laundon (15) edged a wide one to the keeper. Spanish youngster Brown enjoyed hitting a 4 before being caught. 51-3 things looking tricky for SACC. Lupson entered the arena and in his usual flamboyant manner, set about the bowlers this week facing 10 balls and scoring 25 runs. 446.4.6.1 out. Morgan(13) fell to a spectacular one handed catch at backward point. Taylor fell quickly as did Roper which left Fell and Tyler Brown chasing 150 more runs.
With the score ticking along nicely but with a mammoth task ahead the pair took the score past 100 adding 20 valuable runs to the paltry total the rest off the team had reached, Fell eventually holing out for 19 Tyler Brown unbeaten on 1.
Although not the game many come to the Woodbridge Oval to watch it was good to see a visiting team play with such enthusiasm in front of the following away supporters who enjoyed the sunshine and a few local drinks whilst cheering their team.
