Match report On a beautiful day at the end of 2011, Sporting Alfas Accademy invited their Parents to a game of cricket, obviously not expecting the Parents to except the Challange.
Extraordinary things can happen in this marvelous sport and the non cricket playing Parents gave the kids a lesson in enjoying the game.
Winning the Toss Vicky Brown asked her son Antonio Brown to set a score, which he gleefully excepted. The excited youngsters set about the batting with a huge ammount of talent on show, the Parents X1 realistically had none. With a little leinient Umpiring the parent Bowlers kept in the game, The Accadamy side wickets falling at regular intervals not managing to dominate their parents.
88 runs were set in the alloted 17 overs.
With a small rule change, the lads bowling left handed at the Batmums but allowed to bowl normally at the Batdads, runs were leaked all over the smaller than normal Woodbridge Oval, Shamefully one or two Accademy players start to sledge the rapidly catching up Parent X1. Each player got the chance to bowl an over at Mum, Dad, Uncle or Granddad and nearly all had a minute of greatness celerbrating ellaporately at the fall of a wicket, All the while runs were added and the total got closer and closer, Unluckilly for Dave Grandad and Tickerbell Perman when the scores tied the Bright sunshine dazzeled the Umpires so time was called, a spirited game ended honours even.
Today´s occasion also gave the Club a chance to say a fond farewell to Dennis. He has decided to call an end to his marathon run as the bar manager, for 13 years Dennis opened the Cabin, feeding and watering players from all over the World.
