Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas Saturday v Totternhoe CC on Sat 09 Mar 2013 at 1pm
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won SACC 274 - 5
Match report
Totternhoe Cricket Club returned for the 14 year and enjoyed the sun and cricket at the Woodbridge Oval, SACC elected to bat first and went along nicely at 5 an over until Ward fell for 17 well caught by Wray at slip. K Laundon(37) the next to go with the score on 65 caught chasing a wide one. Fletcher and Pennick took the score past 130 when Pennick(38) fell foul of a good one from Bisnel. As always 1 brings 2 and Fletcher (40) caught well by Chris in the deep again off the bowling of Bisnel. Spanish internationals Gomez Brown and Geoffery Evans the took the game away from the tourists with Gomez Brown retiring on 50 and Evans ending the day on 35, Waqar helping out with a well struck 21 off 4 overs. SACC 274 for 5 from 40.
Chasing down a big score is always tough and the Totternhoe batsmen never got in front of the game as Pennick(1-9) and Taylor(2-14) gave SACC a great start. Waqar(0-43) and Perman(3-12) also bowled well in tandem and kept the scoring opportunities very scarce, Gomez Brown after a good show with the bat proved his worth and bowled 6 overs for only 11 runs. On his return from the UK Metcalf gave an excellent example of leg spin claimimg 3 for 16 from 7.
Sporting Alfas Accademy captain 11 year old Leo Laundon looks to be following his father´s example and took 1 for 22 from 4.
Thanks were given to the Umpires, Mr Alan Bacon and Mr Ron Graham, who officiated with out any fuss, the supporters who enjoyed a easy Alfas victory and the tea ladies who worked hard keeping all fed and watered.
