Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Lost TATA say adios to alfas bowlers
Match report
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas 1st X1 173 for 7 lost to Tata Steel 217 for 6
Tata returned to the Woodbridge Oval and were met by a youthful SACC side which included 7 Spanish under 19 hopefuls and four veterans. Batting first and facing a hostile reception from SACC youngsters Roper and Hogan Brown, Tata batsmen never really got going but wickets fell rarely so the game was poised for a high scoring final quarter which sadly never arrived, Owen R reached 72, Ferrel 43 and M Jones 32 the total reached 216 and the SACC squad looked happy with a good performance against what was expected to be a very high scoring opposition. Sadly the SACC youngsters also struggled scoring runs and the Bowling of Glamorgan pair M Jones and D Jones although not taking wickets kept the run rate low. 10 overs passed and Alfas had only reached 20 for the loss of Waqar. After 15 overs the score was on 47 and Brown(14) was caught. Roper stayed for a ball or two then departed on 4 Crompton then joined Harry Marshall and the score carried on climbing slowly when Marshall (42) gave a easy chance at midoff. Fletcher and Crompton then took over the task of improving the run rate but neither got going and fell for 15 and 22 so the SACC X1 required a further 107 from the last ten overs with under 15 players Hogan Brown and Kieren Perman at the crease. the pair enjoyed a fifty run partnership and the game fizzled out with the home team still needing 50 runs, Thanks must be given to Tata Steel who played the game with an excellent attitude.
