Match report
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas 1st X1 128 for 4 beat Madrid 127 for 10
First League match of 2013 and the first team started well. Visitor´s, Madrid Cricket Club, won the toss and elected to bat first, SACC bowlers got into gear very quickly with new comer Mohib(6-13-2) and Roper(6-12-2) starting excellently. 12 over´s gone 3 wickets taken. The evergreen Taylor came on and again looked comfortable against a team determined to knock him out the attack, his 3 wickets for 27 from 9 taking out the middle order. Spencer also claimed 3 wickets from his 5.3 over spell. Laundon the other wicket taker with 1 for 12 from 3. Langhams(10), Hall(20), Wilson(15), Daniel(10)and Hakem (18) all got starts but failed to stay at the crease long enough to carry a better score, mainly because SACC have a long bowling line up that includes both fast and slow paced bowling. great start to the day 5 bonus points scored.
Chasing a low total can upset the mind set of players but today SACC opener Spencer got on with the job reaching a well struck 60 and seeing the job through. Whilst he was amassing his runs wickets fell steadily at the other end Muñoz(13), Shahzid(13), Fletcher(8)and Roper for a duck. Laundon stopped the fall of wickets and stayed until the end reaching 17. 5 more bonus points and 10 for the win. Maximum 20 points from the first game this season, what will tomorrow´s return match bring to the Woodbridge Oval.
