Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas Sunday v Totternhoe C.C. on Sun 09 Mar 2014 at 1.00
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won 133 NOT ENOUGH FOR RAMPANT SACC
Match report
A short t20 match was todays format as the Tottenhoe team were eager to enjoy watching England play with a different shaped ball. Batting first the visitors appeared to want to get to the bar quickly and the first 3 wickets fell stumped by the evergreen SACC keeper,Grahame Ward. Then Abdul who was looking in good nick as he helped himself to 38 runs edged to 1st slip giving new boy Tocher his first scalp for the club. A few lusty blows from the Tottenhoe number 5 and 6 helped the visitors to a under par total of 133 of the alloted 20 overs.
After his century in Saturday´s game Antonio Brown hit a rapid 30 before watching the game from the other end as Nix kept the strike with a regular single from the 6th ball. Then both players fell in quick sucesssion, Brown(33) fell foul of boredom and was easily caught at short mid wicket and Roper ran an easy second but Nix(32)was only half way down the wicket. After also reaching the mid 30´s Roper (37) unselfishly gave the younger team players the chance of finishing the game and walked off. McKinstry and Cooper looked like claiming the game when Cooper jumped back and was out plum in front of the sight screen. Wallington Smith took up the run chase and with Treasurer McKinstry finished the game of in the 17th over. Tea was enjoyed has was the game by yet again a large crowd on a beautiful sunny day at the Woodbridge Oval.
Next weekend see the return of the Nomads who play Friday,Saturday,Sunday and Monday against the SACC elite. All games start at 1pm and you will be made welcome if you would like to enjoy a game of Cricket in sunny Albir at the Woodbridge Oval on the Av.de Musica, also known as the Campo de Golf.
