Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won Alfas post too high for Torre to chase

Match report The start of a new season saw the battle of the home teams as Torrevieja arrived to Alfas, in a fixture where the away side have not won against the other in a number of matches. Torre had a few new faces in their side and Alfas had awarded the new Chairman a place in the mighty 2nds as a suitable reward for his new position.

Alfas took the opportunity to set a total and Nix strode out with K. Perman to set about starting off matters. Nix was first to fall getting caught LBW off Harris which saw Mr. Chairman flaunt his newfound status and come in at a Vertigo inducing No. 3. Together with Perman they found a liking to the Torre attack, Perman hitting the ball to all parts of the boundary while the Chairman showed his negotiating skills by practising his golf shots at the crease incase the Golfers were paying attention!

Perman was next to go, tiredness getting to him and dragging one on to his stumps, goodd reward for Harris getting both openers, working well with Wareing who kept both batsmen honest with his tidy bowling. Abdul took up the fight with Fletcher until the Chairman was eventually called in having hit his 50 to bring back memories of....to invoke the battling display of......well, none of the team were actually around the last time he did hit but he assured us he had done so before! The rest of the Alfas struggled to add anything of note to the score apart from Anton Bodnarec who grafted, edged, swung and battled to a handy 18 before the overs ran out and Alfas ended on 195 from their 35.

The Torre reply did not get off to the best start as the top 3 only managed 11 between them, Abdul catching a nice edge off "Opener" Wood before Bodnarec followed up his batting heroics with 2 wickets.

New man Raul started battling back and with Hasan and then Wareing put on some runs in the middle order before Abdul again found the edge, Byrne taking his 2nd of the day. With Wareing and Guichard both finding some scores out in the middle, skipper perman changed things and brought on the left arm of Dell. Dell managing to get both batsmen to send up catches with Pennick and Perman took with ease. Dhondai at the other end picked up 3 wickets, sending all 3 batsmen waddling back to the pavillion with their ducks and finally, K. Perman returned to get the last wicket of Neville, Bodnarec ending a fine day with his 2nd catch of the day. Torre all out for 129 and the home side prevailing in this fixture once again.

Torre will look to get revenge when Alfas visit them later in the season as the hunt for an away win continues.
