Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas Saturday v Chaldon C.C on Sat 04 Oct 2008 at 12.00
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won won by 161
Match report
On Saturday SACC entertained a new visiting team at the Woodbridge Oval, Chaldon CC a fine bunch of men who love touring and to tell a few tales. Chaldon won the toss and invited SACC to set a score,
As normal SACC started at a fierce rate, Spencer(111 retired) knocking the ball to all parts of the Oval whilst Ali(59) watched. Ali falling after hitting the ball high and far caught again in the deep the score on 127, 11 overs bowled. C. Muñoz came to the middle and again produce a well played score of 88 not out, Myers joined in the fun and returned a rapidly run 42 before falling to Harris (1-38) the pick of the Chaldon bowlers. Wasim entered the fun and hit a fine 44 off 6 overs before playing across a rare straight one from Klaus (1-80). 349 for 3 off 35 overs an entertaining batting display.
After a cup of tea from the Hut. SACC set about the Chaldon batsmen.Wood(45) and Klaus(44) set about the task with a relish, although P Taylor, running in up the hill produced a display without any luck returning 0-27 from 7 overs, Metcalf(0-46-6) another SACC youngster tried to buy the breakthrough but dissappeared all over the park in his first ´opening´ spell for SACC. Bring on Spencer (4-22-4) a rarely used SACC bowler, asking some serious questions and removing both opening batsmen in his first two overs, time for a rest and let the real bowlers have a go. Wasim (1-12-5) bowled with his normal flair, removing Quail for a duck. Andrews (1-13-4) grabbed his chance and had Dougal caught at point. The father and son partnership, T Marshall(1-27-3) and H Marshall(1-17-3), came on and neither wanting to be out gunned bowled well to grab a wicket each, Spencer snatched the ball back, desperate to get at them, unlucky to only snatch 2 more wickets before running out of overs,
A fine game played in a spirit that proves, yet again, in Spain the Woodbridge Oval is the place to watch and play cricket.
