Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas Saturday v Nomads C.C on Sat 09 Mar 2019 at 1.00
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Lost Nomads thrash 1st X1
Match report
On what should have been a thriller to welcome home G Howe, just for the day, turned into a disaster when SACC failed to turn up.
Tight bowling from Shawl and Firth gave Nomads the start teams dream of when visiting Albir, 24-4 from the first 14 overs. Shenkman, Laundon, Abdul and K Perman all losing their wickets by well taken catches. Alger stood alone but upon reaching 45 Nomads fourth bowler J Perman, got one to pop up a little and Hugo Morris held a beauty on the boundary at deep square leg. The only other SACC player to reach double figures was J, Ahmad with 10 runs whilst watching the demise of Harvey, K Roper, C Wood, T Beety and lastly Tottenhoe's R Wood who must have wondered why he had left his team mates in the bar to play for this rabble. All out for 92.
Tea was taken slightly earlier than expected but lived up to our high standards, both teams sat together chatting about how strange cricket can be and wether or not Sporting Alfas twice a year visitors would reach this unexpectedly low total.
Nomadic opener K, Smith and fellow player B, Ralphs walked out and play resumed with the down trodden SACC players trying to get to grips with the batting disaster fresh in their thoughts. With the total on 21 Kevin Smith decided to play an extreem shot to a widish ball from K, Perman and stood mortified as his middle stump was disturbed, Nomads only loss, long time Sporting Alfas player, Graham Howe walked in and together with Ben Ralph knocked off the remaining 75 runs to surpass SACC´s total in 16.4 overs. Both players ending on 37. Good to see you back in whites Graham, please remember your Alfas shirt next time. Thanks were given to scorer Nigel Green, Umpires Vincent O´Reilly and Michael Perkins.
