Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Lost SACC 173 - 9 Bears 174 - 6
Match report
On another glorious day at the Woodbridge Oval, the annual match against the Bears took place for the Benidorm Cup. SACC won the toss and decided to bat. Pennick fell in the 5th over, unlucky against one that jumped a little and caught the leading edge, Chippy Howe entered the game and as a true Bear did not trouble the scorer, Chris Muñoz came to the grease and played excellently for his 33 runs whilst this was happening M Spencer was having a great time at the other end blasting 47 before getting caught at long on. S Ali hit a quick 30 and M Yousaf 23. total 173.
The Bears openers never got going against some tight bowling from Muñoz and Laundon, Howe taking a fine catch to dismiss Penner(5). Pennick game on down the hill, to capture opener Collinson (29) and England ladies player Brindle (31). At the other end Crompton was bowling his mixture with gile unlucky not to grap a wkt or two. the spin from Yousaf and Taylor seemed to be keeping SACC in the game, the Bears run rate needed to be very special, it was and in two overs the game changed, the Bears needing 15 off the last over, Turner (67) the only Bear to get to grip with the bowling facing, all the SACC players on the boundry, impossible task. A massive 6 off the first ball made the task seem possible and with the help of the Bears Umpire giving a couple of wides the match ended with a Bears victory. A great day enjoyed by both sides and a thrilling finish. Cricket the real winner.
