Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won

Match report All-round team Performance.

Sporting Alfas Cricket Club welcomed back for the 13th year a strong Cricket World side to the Woodbridge Oval. On a glorious sunny day SACC batted first against a more then useful attack, but the new opening partnership of Pennick and Johnson were patient in their approach, hitting any bad ball to the boundary and running well between the wickets with plenty of quick singles available to them. The 50run partnership was brought up in the 11th over without any loss, as the innings progress so did the partnership with both openers looking more fluent in their stroke play, with Pennick reaching his 50 in the 21st over, he decided to be more positive and in doing so, his timing and run flow deserted him, before being bowled for 64 with the score on 127. Munoz made a brisk 33 before being run out by a direct hit off Thewlis who followed this up with another direct hit to dismiss Steve Lewis. In the mean time Charley Johnston scored an Impressive 71 before fatigue had caught up with him and the rest of the SACC line up got blown away. Zia was the pick of the bowling with 3wickets for 22runs as the home side reached 220 for 8.
SACC attack was very ordinary In the 4overs with the ball flying every where before a wicket fell and things got back on track for the home bowling side with wickets falling at regular intervals hampering the Cricket world run chase with only Zia looking very accomplished in his approach making 31 before being bowled of his thigh pad and around his legs , a very unlucky dismissal .With the Cricket world nomads not having much luck against the steady bowling attack wickets kept tumbling with young Jaime Roper taking 3 of them and Ben mariner 3 to dismiss the visitors for 129 2more then SACC 1st wicket Partnership. With Cowley, Mariner and Roper all taking wickets an all round team performance was the main course for the demise of Cricket World we shall see them return in October.
This Thursday sees the return of Harpenden CC for their 11th year against SACC midweek X1, and Saturday 21st March SACC vs Harpenden CC 12.30pm. Sunday 22nd SACC 2s v Intellectuals 2pm Start. Food and Drinks available all day at the ground for visitors.
