Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas 1st X1 v Montenotte C.C. on Sat 25 Apr 2009 at 13.00
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won 1st's win in 22 overs

Match report Montenotte won the toss and elected to bat first and got of to a flyer with 24 of the first three overs then the bowlers found there line and Frost fell, caught well in the 4th slip area by Howe off Lupson. Opener Jadunath hammered a quick 23 before giving Lupson his second wicket a fine catch by Munoz. Previous day 100 scorer Dadhini joined Plum in the middle but found Lupson in good form and had his middle stump removed. Munoz bowled after Lupson and the batsmen found him in good nick also clean bowling Harte(9) and Furness (3). at the other end Taylor doing his magic bowling his eight overs for only 17 runs although not taking a wicket. Leg spinner Crompton took over and bambazzled the opposition with his multi-directional spin, having Plum(40) caught by Munoz at point from one that hit the top of the bat. Smith and home boy Fletcher hit some mighty blows before Smith tried to nick a single but Crompton returned for Ali to remove the bails with Smith(23)well out, Skipper Newton(3) strode out to join Fletcher and looked stunned after pulling Pennick around the corner the ball was well taken by the ever alert Evans. Hopkinson joined the now annoying Fletcher at the wicket and a total of over 200 looked on before Fletcher(36) finally missed one off Crompton and was stumped by Ali. Hopkinson carried his bat and ended on 26, total 194.
Spencer(50) and Ali(55) opened for the firsts and got on with it, racing to 122 in 14 overs, both retired. Compton and Munoz strode out and carried on in the same manner taking the score to 179 before Crompton(41) mishit one to deep midwicket where Skipper Newton took the only catch well. Metcalfe was given a chance but dissapointed out lbw for a duck after only 3 balls. Lupson(9) then joined Munoz(21)and the game ended in the 22 over, only K Smith bowling with any reward getting both wickets. As always when game ended and the hut was well used by both teams. thanks Montenotte for another great tour and we look forward to your visit next year.
