Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas Saturday v Glenrothes C.C. on Sat 12 Sep 2009 at 13.00
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Won ITS GREAT TO BE BACK
Match report
On another sunny day at the Woodbridge Oval the firsts won the toss and elected to bat against regular visitors Glenrothes. Laundon and Spencer started the Alfas assault on the bowlers, Laundon(11) the first to go bowled by Morrison, Crompton joined Spèncer in the middle and found the bowling to his liking striking the ball all around the ground and along withe Spencer taking the score to 98 before Spencer who had just reached 50 missed one of change bowler Neilson, Howe came in and like Crompton looked in good form the two both getting into the eighties before Crompton(81) hit one at ex-team mate Hopcroft who took the catch with ease, Morgan known better as X played well and hit a needed 31 before a unfortunate run out led to his dismisal. Evans(1) and Bainbridge(2) both fell quickly giving Taylor(5) the chance to carry his bat and let Howe finish unbeaten on 89.
The Glenrothes Batsmen started well with Hopcroft(19) looking in good nick before belting one straight at Crompton who took the catch knowing broken ribs would be the result of not holding on, Morrisson(18) followed his skipper back to the hut when he smacked one back at Howden who took the catch rather than losing his teeth. Man of the match Neilson(39) stroked the ball around the Oval before Crompton removed his stump. Wickets fell steadely all afternoon with only Ross(21) giving the homeside any concern, Bainbridge bowled very well returning 4-33 on his 1st team debut, as did Dawes (1-21) who´s figure did not do him justice but enjoyed his debut. As alway´s the celebrations in the new hut carried on the enjoyment and atmosphere that the Woodbridge Oval enjoys most weekends. Thanks to all our followers that come down most games.
