Match report SPORTING ALFAS I CLAIM COSTA LEAGUE 1 TITLE

Sporting Alfas 1st XI completed its fifth successive Cricket España Costa North League Division 1 win with a comfortable victory over Valencia Green C.C. In doing so the team established an unassailable lead at the top of the table and clinched the League Championship.

Batting first, Valencia Green was soon in trouble against the Alfas opening attack as Laundon claimed early wickets to leave the score standing at 42-4. Only two of the visiting batsmen made any impression, with Amir (54) and Sajid (45) featuring in a fifth wicket stand of forty-six. However, with their departure the innings collapsed against the left-arm spin of Taylor and the final total only reached a very modest 122. For Alfas, Laundon claimed 4-28 and Taylor 3-14.




The Valencia green total was never likely to trouble the Alfas side and so it proved. Victory was achieved after twenty-two overs for the loss if three wickets with Spencer being undefeated with fifty-seven to his credit.

To add to Valencia's woe they were deducted 2 points for only having 10 men, so the final points count for the game was SACC I 19 points and Valencia Green 0 points.
