Match report The yearly opener for league cricket normally brings out all the members to play. 2024 proofing no different. With a full squad SACC captain failed at the toss of the coin and La Manga - Torrevieja CC decided to bat. C Wood came in and went out again caught and bowled by Ashraf, Anwar hung around for a 3 run from 17 balls total before Ashraf removed him plumb LBW. Tedder who was also being a little difficult for the bowlers, finally lost his patience and lifted one high to Walker who sprinted around the outfield to take the catch giving Andrew´s his first of two, The second was the 13 ball duck from Wilson - Pestal. Well, slightly confused by a straight one from the bowler after 3 of the previous 5 balls failed to hit the mat. Total 147 with Alfie Court left not out on 2.

Birthday boy Gary Crompton walked out with league debutant opener Maylon to face the Torrimanga bowlers and the pair stood and faced the first three overs before the debut of Maylon came to an end, caught in the slips by Tedder. Jack Perman took the fight to the bowlers and in his own unmistakable style hit a 12 ball 31 before missing one. Asad Raza joined the birthday boy and the pair looked relaxed and the score ticked along nicely at an average of 10 runs per over until with the score on 135 from 13 overs Asad Raza walked by one from the bowling of Wilson- Pestal and was stumped by K Wood, 2 overs later with the scores even Crompton forgot to hit the ball and Mc Clements removed his middle peg, Allowing Ashraf and Hafiz the honour of claiming a win. Hafiz catching hold of one and ending the game with a fine 4. 151 for 4 from 16.4 overs giving SACC the win on this the first week of ¨serious¨cricket.
