Match report LMTCC vs Sporting Alfas CC REPORT

419 runs, 14 wickets, 2 50´s and a hospital trip.

Beautiful day yesterday as the team of 12 for LMTCC travelled up to Alfas del Pi for another 40 over fixture vs SACC.

Winning the toss, K. Wood elected to bat first and returned to the opening spot, this time with T. Knowles.

Slow and steady start for the LMTCC batters trying to see of the new ball but a slow bouncer caught T.Knowles in 2 minds as he glided the ball to short gully for an easy catch.

R. Tedder came to the crease and runs came more frequently with the change of bowling attack. The 8th over saw a retired hurt for R. Tedder as a bouncer clonked him on the chin with immediate signs of blood. Z. Manzoor came in at 4 but the fear of the short ball saw him dangling his bat outside off for an edge to slip. 49/2 off 12 overs.

A. Panchel came in at 5 to join K. Wood as they put on 27 in 4 overs before K. Wood top edged a sweep to deep backward sqaure leg. 72/3 off 16.

T. Singh was in at 6 but he was out a couple of overs later when he was clean bowled for 1. R. Tedder came back in to continue his innings as he resumed on 14*.

2 overs before drinks saw the end of the innings of A. Panchel as a cut shot was well hit but straight to the fielder at point. 107/5 off 24 overs.

Ab. Hussain came to the crease to join the wounded R. Tedder and saw the team to the drinks break at 116/5 of 26 overs.

A very important drinks break for LMTCC to regroup as the last session belonged to R. Tedder and Ab. Hussain. Both batted sensibly and punished the bad balls as they reached their 50 partnership in the 34th over and then batted hard in the final 6 overs as R. Tedder reached his 50 after 83 balls and then Ab. Hussain reached his 50 not long after off just 35 balls as the team score flew over the 200 mark.

A tired last couple of overs as only 7 was scored of them brining the score to 207/5 and then Ab. Hussain smashed the last ball of the innings to long off to end his innings at the same time. 207/6 off 40 overs. Here is how LMTCC batted:
K. Wood 27 (48)
T. Knowles 4 (7)
R. Tedder 58* (92)
Z. Manzoor 1 (9)
A. Panchel 18 (35)
T. Singh 1 (9)
Ab. Hussain 51 (38)

46 extras in the innings a big boost throughout too.

Onto the defence now and it would have to be done without R. Tedder as he would leave the ground after the innings to take a trip to the hospital to acquire stiches to his chin.

P. Harvey would start the attack with T. Singh. Despite an injury whilst bowling for P. Harvey, he battled through and claimed the first wicket of the innings as the Alfas opener top edged a shot to keeper, T. Knowles.

Runs came frequently with boundaries coming every over and the run rate keeping around 6-7 an over. The next breakthrough came with a bowling change and a catch from A. Court at mid off, 72/2 off 11.

Drinks break came 2 overs later with the score at 90/2 and saw the introduction of spinners, K. Wood and A. Panchal. The 2 bowled a 12 over spell between them claiming 4 wickets but at the cost of 88 runs as the score reached 178/6.

K. Wood came off to bring T. Singh back on and also swapping round with T. Knowles to keep for the final session.

T. Singh claimed a wicket as he clean bowled the Alfas no. 7 and A. Panchal claimed another wicket with a stumping from K. Wood but the score now at 206/8.

The next over saw the end of the game with the Alfas no. 8 smashing a 6 to reach the target with 10 overs to spare.

A much better bowling performance from LMTCC with only 17 extras bowled compared to last weeks 44. Catches were also better with 5 catches from Ab. Hussain, A. Court (2), S. Khan and T. Knowles. But there were still 5 drop catches are important parts of the game that could have made the difference. Here is how the LMTCC bowlers performed.

P. Harvey 4 overs 1/33
T. Singh 6.2 overs 1/37
S. Khan 4 overs 1/30
Z. Manzoor 2 overs 0/19
K. Wood 6 overs 2/46
A. Panchal 7 overs 3/42 (1 Maiden)

Despite the loss, LMTCC claim 8 points from the game. Just 2 wickets away from a victory in a close game.

We will be back very soon as our T20 Journey begins on the 9th August as we return back to the La Manga cricket and Golf Resort to face Alfas one more time.

See you all again soon!!
