Dearest Members, new and old, it is yet again my sad duty to plead with you to be available for the matches.
We all have other duties, this weekend I am away in UK, so I fully understand the problems we all face!!
but we as a club are facing a massive upturn in matches, matches every weekend from now until the end of
November and 2024 is already full, the hard work behind the scenes is reaping rewards, that said, it is down
to we, the players, to get 11 out on the park.
Some of you are no longer playing cricket but I included you in this email just so you
know we are still here and matches are available if you regain an interest.
If possible please help SACC out and get in touch with me if you are available or fancy coming back to
our great club. This weekend Whitchurch CC - 28 of them all wanting to enjoy our clubs social and cricket.
Next weekend we entertain Buckhurst CC in Albir and play Madrid CC at la Manga, 22 players
required, not forgetting Sundays match with Buckhurst, the visitors needing a team to play. Buckhurst pay
an awful lot of money to come over and we all know the Madrid costs, but if I do not get a positive response
from this letter then the game in la Manga will have to be cancelled, with it our chance of winning the leagues
dies.
Sorry to be a little down beat in this email but with 40 odd signed on players we should be able to get teams
out and having to plead with you all really is not a nice thing to feel I need to do. Its Wednesday now and
only 5 have said yes for Sunday. Think how it makes the committee feel when the work we do leads to teams
touring, then we find not enough availability for the tourists to get a game.
